The California Wind Energy Collaborative is hosting its sixth Forum to explore the technology, policy, and planning driving wind energy's future in California. This year, we're partnering with the Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) to host the Forum in Sacramento, California.
California is at a crossroads. Our state has long been a pioneer and leader in renewable energy, but its statewide installed capacity of wind power was recently surpassed for the first time. Since our last Forum, Texas has installed over 2,500 MW of new capacity, Colorado 776 MW, Oregon 450 MW, Minnesota 405 MW, and Iowa 364 MW. These and several other states have developed more wind capacity than California, which had only a modest growth of 108 MW. Why has California's growth stalled out? Why are developers focusing their efforts elsewhere? Will the state be able to reach its mandated energy goals?
The Forum will assemble expert panels from industry, government, and academia to discuss these questions and examine the most relevant issues facing wind energy in the state.
Registered attendees will receive access to audio transcripts and copies of the presentations of the Forum. Proceedings of past Forums are available online:
